MGB Bio

Atlanta-based Maria Gabriella Band (MGB) is a folk-rock Indie group headlined by Nicaraguan-born singer/songwriter Maria Gabriella. This five-piece ensemble, consisting of lead guitarist Amy Smith, keyboardist Emily Chambers, bassist Derek Gillespie, and drummer Jeff Barrow, along with Maria on rhythm guitar, formed in 2011 and released their first album, High Above the Sun, in 2012.

On stage, MGB exudes a bursting array of talent, personality and energy that captivates any audience with original music ranging from folk to pop/rock to Spanish ballads. The band slips seamlessly into various musical styles, screaming diversity, yet never losing its identity. Backed by rocking leads, head-bopping beats, and rich vocal harmonies, Maria’s unique and powerful voice soars.

Poverty is Real Benefit at Eddie's Attic ~ Decatur, GA
    "Our very first Poverty is Real event, held at Eddie's
    Attic in June 2011, was an overwhelming success,
    thanks in large part to the generosity and talents of
    artists like the Maria Gabriella Band.  Together the
    musicians and the community raised $6,000 for the
    Decatur Cooperative Ministry, money that will assist
    their vital work of alleviating and preventing 
    homelessness in our community."
